Overview: When one of the world's largest computer networking companies merged with a global remote access company to create the New 3COM, room for expansion became a top priority. To create their new Chicago office complex, 3COM purchased an existing office building in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, and hired Turner Construction Company to conduct a complete renovation.
The project called for level floors and an extremely fast turnaround. So Turner subcontracted the floor leveling to the local Maxxon dealer and a high-tech, self-leveling underlayment - Level-Right® PLUS.
Thanks to Level-Right PLUS' quick set, high compressive strength and superior surface hardness, the floors were leveled prior to completion of interior demolition work on the old, 400,000-square-foot office building. This strategy saved valuable project time that would normally be required during the finish-out phase of the project, when underlayments are typically installed.
After determining proper pouring depths using a laser level, the Maxxon application crew covered approximately 60,000 square feet of old, out-of-level floor with Level-Right PLUS. Within hours of pouring, crews resumed their demolition work. Level-Right PLUS withstood everything from bobcat traffic to falling ceiling materials and ductwork.
