There's a new approach to high-rise concrete construction.

Markets across the country are experiencing an uptick in high-rise concrete construction starts. These projects are going up fast, some at the rate of one floor every two days. This rigorous construction schedule puts a tremendous amount of pressure on concrete contractors because of the necessity of meeting specific floor flatness criteria.  Floor flatness measurements taken immediately after installation may change as the floor cures, resulting in costly and time-consuming floor prep before the installation of floor goods.

The SMART (Slab Moisture and Resurfacing Technology) System combines the proven moisture vapor protection of Maxxon® MVP with the strength of Level-Right® Self-Leveling Underlayments, installing up to 20,000 sq. ft. of underlayment in a single day.

How It Works

Concrete floors can take weeks or months to dry adequately for finished floor goods. The SMART System addresses:

  • Slab moisture emissions that can cause adhesive and floor goods failures
  • Changes in concrete that occur during the curing process

The SMART System is simple:

  • STEP 1 - The concrete contractor installs the concrete below final grade and leaves the floor with a rough screed finish.
  • STEP 2 - As soon as 5 days after the concrete installation and subsequent floor prep, an authorized Maxxon applicator installs Maxxon MVP, a surface applied moisture vapor barrier. Maxxon MVP meets ASTM F3010, reducing moisture vapor emission rates of up to 25 lbs to 3 lbs or less.
  • STEP 3 - A high-strength cementitious underlayment is pumped over the moisture barrier up to the specified grade and flatness criteria.
  • STEP 4 - Floors can be walked on in as little as two to four hours. Finished floor goods can be installed in a fraction of the time it takes concrete to dry adequately.
