UL Environment Unveils New Sustainability Certification Marks

UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories), recently announced the launch of new certification marks for its portfolio of services, including the GREENGUARD and ECOLOGO certifications. The new marks feature a qualifying statement clearly explaining the basis for certification or validation; a URL connecting readers to a landing page further explaining the environmental service; and standard numbers for enhanced transparency.

GREENGUARD will now offer two levels of certification. Maxxon products that qualified for certification under their previous standards, will continue to be certified at both of the new levels:

  • GREENGUARD Certification - Formerly Indoor Air Quality Certification - gives assurance that products designed for use in indoor spaces meet strict chemical emissions limits, which contribute to the creation of healthier interiors.
  • GREENGUARD Gold Certification - Formerly Children & Schools Certification - offers stricter certification criteria, considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals, such as children and the elderly, and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.
